A
ppearance: Jittery Jack is a young, wiry fellow with a mop of unruly hair and wide, darting eyes. He’s usually seen in an oversized sailor’s shirt and trousers that look like they’ve seen better days. His hands are perpetually trembling, whether from nerves or excitement, it’s hard to tell.
Background: Jack is relatively new to the seafaring life and it shows. He signed up for adventure but seems to be perpetually surprised by the realities of life on the high seas. His lack of sea legs makes him a bit of a clumsy presence on the deck.
Personality: Nervous and excitable, Jittery Jack is constantly in a state of mild panic, whether it’s about the possibility of storms, pirates, or running out of his favorite biscuit on board. He’s eager to please but often bungles tasks due to his jittery nature.
Role on the Ship: As a deck hand, Jack is supposed to handle the routine tasks of maintaining the ship, but his shaky hands often make simple tasks a comedic spectacle. He’s known for accidentally tying knots that nobody can untie or getting tangled in the rigging.
Quirk: Despite his shaky demeanor, Jack has an uncanny knack for spotting distant ships or land. His eyesight, coupled with his high-strung nature, makes him an unintentional early warning system for the crew.
Interaction with the Crew: The rest of the crew is a mix of amused and frustrated by Jack. They often have to redo his work, but his endearing nature and unexpected talents make him a lovable part of the team.
